Background
Pershing is looking for talented and hardworking audiovisual programmers to join our team! We work on a wide variety of AV projects for government, corporate, medical, higher education, and financial customers around the world. Our projects include conference and collaboration spaces, video and audio production environments, command and control centers, studios, restaurants and entertainment venues, and probably some unusual spaces and systems neither you nor we have thought up yet.
We’re hiring at entry, intermediate, and senior levels. At every level, the right person will have a passion for clean, reliable, maintainable programming, strong troubleshooting skills, and a desire to keep developing their technical skills while working on increasingly complex systems.
Location
Pershing is a fully virtual company with no physical office location. These positions are primarily work-from-home; however, travel to project sites will be required for commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and client support.
Levels
Entry
For someone curious, motivated, and comfortable learning new technologies, with a strong technical foundation and an interest in programming, configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting AV systems. Prior professional AV programming experience is helpful, but we are equally interested in candidates with a strong programming, networking, electronics, or AV systems background who are excited to develop those skills.
Intermediate
For programmers with 3–5 years of professional AV programming, configuration, commissioning, or systems integration experience, ready to work on increasingly complex systems.
Senior
For programmers with 7+ years of professional experience, certified in at least one major AV control platform, who want to lead complex projects, set programming standards, and mentor the team.
Responsibilities
Entry
Assisting with programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning of AV systems
Developing and modifying control system programs and user interfaces under the guidance of experienced programmers
Configuring DSP platforms for audio processing, routing, control, and monitoring
Working within established programming standards, reusable modules, code libraries, templates, and documentation
Testing control system functionality and identifying programming or configuration issues
Troubleshooting issues across control, audio, video, USB, network, and conferencing systems
Documenting programming, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting activities
Working with AV programmers, designers, and engineers to understand system functionality and programming requirements
Communicating with manufacturers and other technical resources to assist with troubleshooting and integration
Learning new AV/IT technologies, programming platforms, APIs, and integration methods, and participating in manufacturer training
Intermediate
Everything at entry level, with more independence, plus:
Programming, configuring, testing, and commissioning AV systems
Developing and maintaining control system programs and user interfaces
Performing system commissioning, functional testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
Working with AV designers and engineers to review system designs for programming, integration, and commissioning requirements
Working with senior programmers to develop and improve programming tools, standards, and reusable code
Working directly with clients, consultants, manufacturers, contractors, and other project stakeholders
Senior
Everything at intermediate level, plus:
Leading programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning efforts for complex projects
Developing and maintaining programming standards, reusable modules, code libraries, templates, and documentation
Diagnosing complex problems across control, audio, video, USB, network, and conferencing systems
